Richard Charles

President

Rich Charles is President of Five Point Partners and has primary responsibility for New Business Development. Rich has worked in the energy industry for over 20 years.

Rich began his professional career as an engineer at Commonwealth Edison in Chicago. He then joined Navigant Consulting, where he worked with a number of utilities on issues ranging from mergers and acquisitions to developing new service companies. During his time at Navigant, he helped create new consulting practices in Logistics and Distributed Generation. Rich next joined Excelergy Corporation, a billing software company, as Director of Strategy.

Following two years at Excelergy, Rich joined Capstone Consulting Partners at the start of its formation. At Capstone, he was responsible for Business Development and also led their Strategy practice, which included projects that helped energy companies evaluate technology alternatives as well as the potential benefits and risks of outsourcing.

Upon the sale of Capstone to Alliance Data, he became responsible for sales, marketing, account management, and consulting for its Utility Services division. Along with the President of the Utility Services division, Rich was the lead executive responsible for its sale to Vertex Business Services, which he then joined as SVP of Client Services.

In January 2010, Rich became a member of Five Point's executive team.

He is a frequent speaker and author on topics that explore the interplay between consumer benefits and technology adoption.

Rich holds an electrical engineering degree and an MBA, both from Northwestern University.
